Druglord El Chapo Claims He is Being “Sexually Harassed” in Prison

Emanuel Shirazi

CEO of the Sinaloa cartel, Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera (more commonly known as “El Chapo”) was once one of the world’s most powerful drug traffickers.  But now he’s a high-security inmate in a Mexican prison. And according to his lawyer, he is embarrassed by the way he is being treated there.

Here are a list of claims against the prison staff that Chapo alleges:

  1. A prison guard squeezes him and bothers him throughout the night.
  2. A security guard “handles” him instead of “touching” him.
  3. He is being groped during daily inspections.
  4. He is having a difficult time sleeping because the guard wakes him up every four hours (wait, isn’t that standard procedure at any prison?)

Chapo’s alleged sexual harassment is the least of his worries as he is currently facing drug-trafficking and murder charges in more than multiple US cities. Because of this, the US asked that he be extradited to a US prison. Just recently, the extradition went through and soon Chapo will be an NYC resident at the nine-story Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn.

If his track record holds up, however, he should be out of prison in no time (Chapo escaped prison in 2001, was caught 2014, and then escaped from prison, yet again, one year later through a mile long tunnel beneath his cell.) According to Forbes.com, the Sinaloa cartel is responsible for 25% of all the illegal drugs entering the US from Mexico and according to estimates by drug enforcement experts, the cartel’s yearly revenue may hover around $3 billion.

Do you think Chapo’s claims are valid or do you think he may be causing a distraction in order to plan yet another escape?
